Move Out of Your Comfort Zone

Fear can isolate us from moving toward GREATNESS. I remember working an entry-level position as a telephone operator.  I was extremely excited to get the position because it was going to help pay for my college tuition. Although it was entry-level, I knew I could eventually apply for higher-level positions and receive additional school funding.  All staff working at entry-level had the same opportunity for advancement. 

However, I noticed that fear gripped many of my coworkers. They were not willing to take a leap of faith and apply for new positions to increase their salary. Unfortunately, they also weren’t motivated to return to school. Their conversations were very similar. They believed they were too old to go back to school. Some admitted they were afraid of new positions because they didn’t want to venture out of their comfort zones.

Through our conversations, I recognized that their mentality was not oriented towards greatness.  Their complacency was etched in stone.  From then on, I learned to surround myself with people who were striving towards greatness, because greatness is contagious and unfortunately, fear is also contagious. If you want to achieve your GREAT, you must take the first step. Choose a strategy for achieving the goals you’ve been afraid to pursue. Goal yourself and execute!
